At Les Ilets de la Plage, we do things a bit differently to the hustle and bustle you might find elsewhere...

We run a quiet, understated resort of 12 traditional style villas located on the beautiful St Jean Beach with a mixture of one, two and three-bedroom layouts either on the beach itself or amongst the hillside’s lush tropical gardens offering spectacular views over the bay.

Our small resort is laid out in two sections. Set just behind the reception building and right on the shore are four attractive one-bedroom beach villas, built in traditional West Indian style. They stand in a line, slightly staggered and separated by palms and bushes, their walls bright white and touched with blue in the wooden window surrounds. The four pointed red tin roofs stand out prettily against the greenery and the sky. Inside, they are brightly painted and comfortably furnished in a simple but attractive style whilst each has its own wooden deck with a view through the palms to the sea and the bedrooms are upstairs in the pitched roof. Set on the hillside on the other side of the pool area are the eight other garden villas. Again they are surrounded by greenery, but here the architectural style is a variation on the local St Barths ‘case’ theme and they are brightly coloured in yellows, purples and greens, but are still built with the same distinctive pitched red tin roofs.

This unique air of seclusion allows our visitors to hide away when they wish, and we’re sure it’s also the reason that many of them keeping coming back year after year. It helps that the accommodation we provide is simply (but elegantly) decorated and pretty comfortable. We’ve always felt that home comforts are important, which is why all our villas have full kitchen facilities, air conditioning in the bedrooms, a daily maid service and a daily delivery of fresh breads and pastries right to the door.

Meanwhile, the beach cabana by the central pool area has complimentary tea and coffee available all morning. In our experience, guests love the little bit of community that the pool area affords and they often gather to sunbathe, chat, and even enjoy a cocktail or two in the evenings. If you do need to keep track of the outside world or can’t bear to miss the big game, we have satellite TV and wireless internet access in all villas (although we prefer to check our emails by the pool!)

Our reception desk manned during office hours and our team is on-hand to help you with any requirements you have during your stay. Hungry? Ask them to recommend and book one of St Barths’ many excellent restaurants for you (babysitting can also be arranged on request), or order in a home-cooked meal from the local deli. Les Ilets is great for families, too, have a look at our lovely garden villas with multiple bedrooms. The area itself is very quiet and whilst children will love the beach, there’s also a huge variety of activities on offer.

Life here is very simple, laid back and relaxing. You can spend a morning reading in your hammock, grab a lazy lunch on your terrace and then head to the beach for a tranquil afternoon. But whilst a stunning view of the ocean is never more than a few steps away, the resort is still within a stone’s throw of all the activity on St Barths’ north shore, with all the trendy bistros and boutiques you could shake a flip-flop at.
